As the situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to develop, we wanted to let you know what we're doing to help protect the BSAVA community.
Although we hope these changes are only needed for a short period of time, these circumstances are unprecedented and it's hard to know how the coming weeks will develop. We are committed to providing as much continuity in our services as we possibly can, so you can continue to access the resources and support you need.
We know that many of you are keen for more information and support about what you can be doing differently to better support clients, pets and the profession during these difficult times. We will be sharing more information and our advice shortly, so please do keep an eye on your inbox. We will also be sharing updates on our website: https://www.bsava.com/COVID-19.
BSAVA HQ Woodrow House
Following the latest advice from the UK government, we have asked most of our staff to work from home, starting from 18 March 2020. We will have a skeleton staff operating in Woodrow House during our revised office hours of 9.30am - 4.30pm. We have cancelled all external meetings and visits to Woodrow House for anything other than 'business critical' meetings.
While we don't anticipate these changes will cause too much disruption to a lot of what we do, some things might change for a bit, and we ask for your continued patience and understanding if you need to contact us.
Last week we took the difficult decision to cancel Congress 2020. We have been contacting delegates and exhibitors directly with next steps and we will continue to update those affected as we have more information. We appreciate many of you will have questions about Congress, and again we ask for your continued patience as we disseminate these messages.
If you have already purchased a ticket to Congress 2020, you will be eligible for a refund of your registration fees. Please note, refunds will be processed automatically and you do not need to contact us to arrange. This process may take a bit longer due to staff working from home, but we will be working hard to complete this as soon as possible.
We are also investigating alternatives for delivering the CPD which we know many of you rely upon. More updates will follow.
We will be taking book orders and processing deliveries as usual. Again, with much of the staff out of the office it may take slightly longer than usual for your orders to reach your door.
Of course, all our publications remain available via the BSAVA Library, so you can continue to access content remotely if this is more convenient for you during this period.
We have been in touch with all students on our Postgraduate courses to let students know how COVID-19 is likely to affect their studies. We have made the decision to cancel all PGCert courses due to be held in March. For the courses planned from April onwards, we will continue to monitor the situation and will be giving advice at the beginning of next month as to whether the courses will go ahead.
We will be doing everything we can to deliver the education needed for students to complete their PGCert as we don't want the situation to disrupt their learning. Currently we are planning to deliver the majority of the content online. Of course, this won't be possible for any practical courses but we will be rearranging these for a later date in the year.
All regional day courses will be cancelled until the end of May. We are currently exploring options for delivering evening courses online to help limit social contact. If you have paid a fee to attend a day course, you will automatically be refunded and you don't need to contact us to arrange this. We are looking to rearrange these courses later in the year and will make sure to contact you with any new dates.
