Seminar Highlights:
Abdominal emergencies often need an exploratory surgery to locate and eliminate
the causative problem(s). Abdominal exploration sounds simple but without a
good knowledge of the anatomical position of the organs and the physiology of
the abdomen itself, the veterinary surgeon may be limited in his or her success.
The key of a good abdominal exploration is a simple rule not to forget anything.
During the lecture we will discuss a stepwise process in which all organs are
visualized and common problems are discussed. After the lecture you will feel
more comfortable doing a thorough abdominal exploratory and you will improve
your success in solving the problem.

Seminar Highlights:
Feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC) is a lower urinary tract disease (LUTD) of undetermined etiology characterized by hematuria, dysuria and periuria. Diagnosis of FIC is based on ruling out other known causes of LUTD. Episodes of nonobstructive FIC usually resolves spontaneously within 5 to 7 days. Recurrent clinical signs of FIC occur in up to 65% of cats within 1-2 years. Dietary therapy is effective for prevention of idiopathic cystitis. In a recent prospective clinical trial, cats fed either dry or canned “therapeutic urinary food” showed significantly less clinical signs of FIC compared to a control diet.
