Normal versus Abnormal / Differences between Feline and Canine Sonographic Findings & Interpretation
In this session, we will cover the specifics of feline abdominal scanning: from patient preparation, scanning technique, anatomic specificities and “normal” versus “abnormal” sonographic findings and their interpretation in comparison to dogs. An essential session for nailing your cat scans!
This seminar is a prerequisite for the abdominal ultrasound workshop in early 2022.
Because of the COVID-19 social distancing regulations, there will be a limited quota for attendance.
Registration is required to ensure adequate seating. Please register early to avoid disappointment!
Speaker's Biography
Dr. Myriam Baranger-Ete
DVM EMSAVM MRCVS
Dr. Myriam Baranger-Ete graduated from Maisons-Alfort National Veterinary University (France) in 1998 then completed a year externship at the Equine hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Saint-Hyacinthe, University of Montreal (Canada). There she completed her thesis with honours in equine locomotor pathology and diagnostic ultrasound in 1999.
A move to Hong Kong in 1999 brought her back to Canine and Feline Medicine and she completed the Distance Education Small Animal Sonology Course with the Post-Graduation Foundation of the University of Sydney in 2008, as well as a European Master of Small Animal Veterinary Medicine with the ESAVS (European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies), with the University of Luxemburg. During this training, Dr Myriam realized that an early and accurate diagnosis was key for any therapeutic success and she became passionate and obsessed about Diagnostics since then.
After intensive training, she focused on providing referral ultrasound services and promoting ultrasound education in Asia; co-founding Hong Kong first mobile veterinary ultrasound service in 2013, then developing the services together with her local partners in Singapore and Malaysia.
Aside of her referral ultrasound clinical work, Dr Myriam very much enjoys her time teaching other veterinarians ultrasound techniques giving seminars, workshops and courses all around Asia and overseas (particularly in Australia where her family was relocated in between 2018 and 2020 and where she co-founded the Soundiagnosis Academy, in order to provide Ultrasound Education throughout Australia and New Zealand).
She is an active member of the International Veterinary Ultrasound Society, of the European Society of Veterinary Cardiology and of the Australasian Association of Veterinary Diagnostics Imaging.
In love with Asia and Hong Kong in particular, she recently moved back after more than 20 years living and working in the city, and is thrilled to be able to continue actively developing Advanced Diagnostics in the region, as "Asia Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories" regional director, and to be able to continue supporting her veterinary colleagues with their diagnostic needs so that they can provide nothing but tbest level of care to their patients.
