In this lecture, we will explore chronic inflammatory enteropathies (also known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease, or IBD) in dogs and cats. We will cover essential aspects such as diagnostic tests, risks and benefits of biopsies, biopsy methods, treatment options, the significance of different classifications, and setting realistic expectations for our clients.

Speaker's Biography
Dr. Lawren Durocher-Babek
DVM MS DACVIM CHPV
Dr. Lawren Durocher-Babek is board certified in Small Animal Internal Medicine by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). She earned her DVM from the University of Georgia. After graduation she completed a small-animal rotating internship at Ontario Veterinary College, followed by a small-animal internal medicine residency at the Ohio State University. During her residency, she received a national research award from the ACVIM for her work in diabetic ketoacidosis in dogs. She is a diplomate of ACVIM and a hospice and palliative care veterinarian certified through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care. She also served as a contributing reviewer to the American Animal Hospital Association guidelines on diabetes management in 2018. Her areas of special interest include hospice and palliative care, chronic kidney disease, gastrointestinal disorders, and endocrinopathies.
